Auction Description
Let me first stress: the image is NOT FOR SALE that you see there. This is an auction, for a one-of-a-kind custom auction, a piece to be created and painted by yours truly.

This auction includes:

One custom-painting, a minimum of 8 by 10 inch size, oil painting.

A minimum of 40 hours goes into each piece, from a light underpainting, setting the colors, to a brighter overpainting, to background painting. Each step, every few hours of work, you'll be updated, so you can see your piece come together. Please keep in mind that it is quite impossible to scan a painting in progress, so in-progress shots will be done with a digital camera.

I specialize in vibrant colors, as can be seen from my background examples. Don't commission me if you want something with light pastels. Commission me if you want something wildly bright and beautiful, something striking and unique. I am more than willing to do something trippy and psychedelic. In fact, that's the most fun to work with. I'd love to get a vastly colorful and unique character.

All of these are landscape or still-life examples. Though, by browsing my gallery, you can see I am somewhat proficient with figure-drawing.

I recently found an old, unfinished oil painting I was working on for a family member. Note the texture and the variety of the fur tones, and the subtle shade of the wings. This piece took about 20 hours, so please envision how much more beautiful a piece would be for you. THis was also done on the smaller canvas, the 8x10.

An oil painting is more than a piece of digital art, or a piece of pencil art. It is depth and emotion, a canvas covered in brushstrokes. You can actually feel the character, from the smooth depth of scales to the course fluff of fur, all in the details of the paint. There is no medium in the world that can be quite as expressive as oil paints.

Acrylic paint can never compare to oil paints.

The higher the bid goes, the larger the painting will be. Shipping/Handling is extra however, as when a painting gets larger, the ability to ship it becomes exponentially more difficult. Shipping and Handling is to be paid before painting is shipped. I will offer options for shipping, but I would suggest getting the best possible shipping, as I do not desire for a painting to be lost in the mail, and I do not think you do either.

Bidding:

$25-50: One 8 x10 oil painting, one character, pinup style, minimal background (What this would entail would be: a full-body painting of your chosen character, with a brightly colored drapery style background. Nothing like landscapes or fantasy world backgrounds)

$51-75: One painting, one size up from the 8x10, probably a 10 x 13, one character, slightly detailed background (What this would entail: a full-body painting of your chosen character, in a slightly more dynamic pose/pose of your chosing, with a close-up background, such as a tree or rolling fields, no buildings, no extremely lavish detailed scenery

$76-100: One painting, minimum of 12 x 16, one character, detailed background (What this would entail: a full-body painting, in whatever pose you desire, a clean pose mind you, and a background that is far-shot, rather than close up. Be it a field of flowers or rolling hills or steep mountain crags, you're entitled to it with this one.

$101-200: At this point, the commission splits, and you're entitled to two paintings. One, a 12 x 16, as was spoken of in the last bracket, and second, a smaller 8x10 single character commission.

Any higher than $100, and you and I need to discuss via email what you desire, and what I am willing to paint. I don't expect to get commissioned at that high of an offer, so if I am, we can discuss the possibilities inherent in this.

I CAN paint mature, though I have little experience doing so, and would prefer pinup. I am awkward at two or more character commissions, but again, am willing to work with you. Please remember that unlike acrylic, oil paint takes several months to fully set, and in some cases, is never fully dry. A commission like this is going to take at a bare minimum, 3 months to complete to the point where I could safely ship it.

I do not offer custom framing, I am not trained in it, and would much prefer to ship it as is, to hold the shipping cost down. A place like Michaels or AC Moore can nicely frame it, much better than I ever could.

Unless specifically requested, I work on canvas BOARD. This is a panel that is not created of actual canvas and wood, but rather is thick and non-pliable. If the commissioner desires to have their painting done on actual canvas, I am proficient in stretching, shaping and preparing an actual canvas, though this might cost more due to cost of supplies. This would also take longer, as the canvas has to be primed and allowed to dry, and the paints have to be a bit thicker.

I know how to utilize most of the major oil painting techniques, such as glazing, using mediums such as liquin, and the mixing of the paints. I prefer brilliant vibrant colors, and I hope whoever commissions me does as well.

Further examples, showing color brilliance and brush strokes:
